What does a boarding school ‘in the middle of nowhere in Myanmar’ looks like … what does it mean ? No income but donations. No supermarket but farms and their own plantation. It isn’t just a school, it’s a community. Where (mostly children) sleep, eat, wash, play, excercise and laugh. It’s quite bussiness to run !
You will find:
- 140 monks and volunteers
- over 1,100 children, of which
- 669 girls
- 460 boys
What do they eat ?
- 3 x 200 kilos of rice
- 3 x vegetables
- 3 x fish or meat
- 17 kilos of onions
- 12 kilos of garlic
- 28 kilos of salt
- 14 liters of oil
What do they need for that (before all energy saving projects) ?
- 22,5 liters of diesel
- 2 m3 firewood
How much does that cost ?
- 1 meal cost ca € 0.16 per child
- daily costs of meals are € 646.=
- Yearly costs of meals are € 193,752.=
- That ios a lot of money in a country where a good ‘street food meal’ costs € 1.35.
